We have discovered some partial cases of wine we put away and forgot about.... and wonder if anyone can tell us what the chances are that they are still good. One is a 1993 Nahe that we LOVED and the other a 1989 RheinHessen. They are both Qualitatswein mit Pradikat. More specifics:
(first) Jakob Gerhardt Neirsteiner Schlosskellerein Rheinhessen 1989 Essenheimer Teufelspfad Kerner Auslese
and
(second) August E. Anheuser Nahe 1993 Kreuznacher Narrenkappe Grauer Burgunder Auslese Erzeugerabfullung
I wondered if the extra sugar/ripening would allow them to mature well even over this length of time, as they were sweet to begin with.
Tasting would tell, of course, but we are on special diets now and it would be wasting two bottles of wine in addition to tempting us far too much at this time.
