How to serve a wine as a waiter
Posted by Thomas
I was asked how to serve and here is the basic 4 steps. Please elaborate if you wish:

1) Open the bottle at the table
2) put the cork on the table, for people to see (they are not supposed to smell the
cork or anything, just to see it (see Vinonet discussionboard on smelling corks)
2.5) if you want to be stylish, use a cloth dinner napkin to wrap around the bottle and use it when the bottle drips to avoid stains (red wine) on the clothes of the guests
3) Pour a taste (1/2 to one ounce) to the person who ordered or ask who would
like to taste if you are not sure, but do not assume that it is always the guy
4) if the bottle is ok, that is the wine does not have cork or is too old and the
person tasting approves, you start pouring the wine to the rest of the people,
women first and men after that and the taster last.
If the bottle is not OK, just go get another one.
